Lush
For this project me and Elisabeth met at a middle location from the two points of where we live on campus. After some forgetting, we finally met to talk about possible concepts of an installation piece of using the location that we had. We noticed that we were on the side of the rod with these large oak trees near Armington and we both immediately knew we wanted to do something with the trees. We both noticed that there was some paper trash on the ground near these trees so we started to think of ways we could honor what the trees give to us in our daily lives that most of which is considered garbage at the end of the day when it all comes from these gorgeous trees.
For the installation itself we decided to hang leaves cut out of paper materials that we use everyday. In order to do this we each took leaves from the ground that the oak tree had produced then we both made about 30 leaves in total. Elisabeth has twine that we wrapped around the branches and then strung each leaf onto it. There was no particular order just based on our own aesthetic preferences. The piece is titled “A tribute to the Trees” which I think is pretty fitting. My only critic on our project is that the way we hung the leaves could have had a stronger impact, for example if we had created full branches and leaves out of the paper we use everyday to almost flesh it as one with the tree.
