For this project I decided to go to Alice Keck Park, a place that I have gone to over my time at Westmont to take a break or get some personal downtime. I wanted to document different aspects of the park in one specific area that I was drawn to. Looking at the same thing for long periods of time makes something more beautiful, when you are able to soak in every detail. The time it took to create these drawings was very tedious, but ina therapeutic way. I also found that people would come up to me and ask what I was doing and we would even bond about the beauty in the nature that was around us. Toward the end of the week I felt like I had less free time to look deeply at whatever I was drawing. In order to combat this a little I took a piece of nature that I was drawn to and then drew it on top of the drawing. I didn’t want to take anything from the park instead I wanted to appreciate what was round me and emphasize the small things.
