Lost Childhood Object

When listening to Lauren describing her cherished stuffed animal puppy, I was excited to see if I could replicate it in any way, but I was also nervous to see if I would do it justice. This project was super interesting to me because the initial exercise we did to visualize our childhood home and object that had the most sentimental was very nostalgic. I would open my eyes to peek at my other classmates and see how going back to that time made them feel and the knowledge that every person had that object was comforting to me. When talking to Lauren about her object she spoke about it with such joy and love that I related to, it is crazy to me that we can become so attached to objects from so long ago and they carry so many memories along with them.

When Anna posted her photos of her recreation of my favorite stuffed animal Rosie, I was shocked. It was so cool to see how she created Rosie into a piece of art that I could wear! She created earrings with clay that depicted Rosie’s face with a crown of roses representing her name and the importance of roses that played a part in my childhood. Strange to see a classmate who has no connection to an object I hold so dear make something out of the description I gave. It was touching to see how people were reacting to the recreation of their favorite objects and I hope that I am able to see the earrings in person as they have such a deeper meaning than many would think.
